SYNOPSIS
TV Special - Miraculous Action
Marinette is on a school break and everything is fine… until she learns that Adrien had to leave to Shanghai, China, with his father.
Luckily, her Uncle Wang lives there, and his birthday is coming up soon! To go meet Adrien and her own origins, Marinette decides to take his gift to Uncle Wang herself.
But soon after arriving there Marinette loses all her stuff, including her purse, Tikki… and the Miraculous that allows her to turn into Ladybug!
To find them, she teams up with Fei, unaware that she was the one who stole her things!
About the Special
Miraculous World: Shanghai, The Legend of Ladydragon is a 52-minute TV special set between Season 2 and Season 3 of the series.
It premiered on April 4, 2021 in France on TFOU, and on May 28, 2021 in the United States on Disney Channel. The special is also available to stream on Disney+ and Netflix.
New Characters
The special introduces Fei, a street-smart and resourceful girl living in Shanghai. The story also reveals the existence of Renlings, magical creatures described as cousins of Kwamis that can transform their owners into wild animals they must learn to control.
Marinette’s Origins
Shanghai holds special meaning for Marinette as she explores her Franco-Chinese heritage. Uncle Wang, who first appeared in the episode Kung Food, celebrates his 60th birthday in this special.
The Prodigious
The Prodigious is a new magical jewel introduced in this special. Hawk Moth travels to Shanghai seeking this powerful artifact.
Fei Wu – The New Hero
Fei Wu is the deuteragonist of Miraculous World: Shanghai. She was found as a baby on the doorstep of a Martial Arts School and adopted by Wu Shifu, who trained her in martial arts.
Wu Shifu raised her to uphold the values of the Prodigious and become the Guardian of the Sacred Cave. After Wu Shifu died and his school was destroyed, Fei became a thief to earn money to pay a local crime boss named Cash, who claimed he knew the truth about her adoptive father’s fate.
Fei uses the Prodigious to become Ladydragon, a dragon-themed superhero with animal shapeshifting powers. She can transform into multiple animal forms including Ladybear, Ladymantis, Ladysnake, Ladymonkey, Ladyeagle, Ladyhorse, and Ladytiger.
Production
The special was directed by Thomas Astruc. The original language is French, though the animation and lip-syncing are based on the English dub. This is the second special TV film in the Miraculous World film series, following Miraculous New York.
Voice Cast
In the English version, Cristina Vee voices Marinette and Ladybug. Bryce Papenbrook voices Adrien and Cat Noir. Xanthe Huynh voices Fei Wu and Ladydragon. Keith Silverstein provides additional voice work. The special is rated TV-Y7.

Miraculous World: Shanghai, The Legend of Ladydragon is available to stream on Disney+ and Netflix. It first premiered in Canada on Family Channel on April 16, 2021, and in the United Kingdom on Pop on February 12, 2022.
