Characters
Marinette Dupain-Cheng / Ladybug
The main protagonist travels to Shanghai to visit her great-uncle Wang and secretly hopes to spend time with Adrien. After losing her purse containing Tikki and her Miraculous, she must rely on her own resourcefulness and the help of a new friend.
Adrien Agreste / Cat Noir
Adrien accompanies his father Gabriel on a business trip to Shanghai. He assists Ladybug when danger threatens the city.
Fei Wu / Ladydragon
A street-smart teenage girl living in Shanghai. Fei was found as a baby on the doorstep of Wu Shifu’s martial arts school and raised as his adopted daughter. After her adoptive father’s death, she became a thief working for a crime boss named Cash. She ultimately becomes the new Renren and wields the Prodigious to transform into Ladydragon.
Uncle Wang Cheng
Marinette’s maternal great-uncle and a world-renowned chef who owns a popular restaurant in Shanghai. He is known for improvising a new ingredient with every dish.
Gabriel Agreste / Hawk Moth
Gabriel travels to Shanghai seeking the Prodigious, an ancient magical artifact more powerful than the Miraculouses.
The Prodigious
The Prodigious is an ancient magical medallion that was abandoned in favor of the Miraculouses because it was considered too powerful and dangerous. It contains the powers of all eight Renlings, divine sprite-like beings who are cousins of the Kwamis. Unlike Kwamis who embody abstract concepts, Renlings embody human values.
The Prodigious allows its wearer (called the Renren) to transform into eight different animals, but only if the user possesses the value that each Renling represents:
- Long Long (Dragon) – Justice
- Xiong Xiong (Bear) – Calmness
- Hou Hou (Monkey) – Compassion
- Ying Ying (Eagle) – Confidence
- Ma Ma (Horse) – Honor
- Tang Tang (Mantis) – Patience
- She She (Snake) – Courage
- Hu Hu (Tiger) – Discipline
The dragon form is the most powerful but requires the user’s intentions to be noble and just. Seeking revenge rather than justice will prevent access to this transformation.
